Birken Retreat Registration Form

Thank you for taking the time to submit a Registration Form for your visit to Birken.  Please ensure that you have read our latest visit guidelines before proceeding.  For group visits, please ensure that each individual member of your group submits a separate form.

Please Note:  All fields marked with a red asterisk below must be filled before pressing 'Submit'.  If the form is filled in correctly,  you will then see a screen that says "Thank you, your submission has been received."  If the form is not filled in correctly, you will see a screen indicating in red which fields still need to be filled in correctly. After successful submission of the form, you should immediately receive an email copy of the information you submitted.

*Arrival & Departure Days*:  All Personal Retreatants are asked to arrive and depart on Wednesdays, Fridays or Sundays, instead of any day of the week.  This policy is designed to simplify the management of bookings and minimize the comings and goings at the monastery, thereby fostering a quieter, more settled atmosphere for all.

Booking Confirmations:  If you are applying for a Personal Retreat, you should receive an official booking confirmation or acknowledgment by email from the Birken Office within one week of the date of your submission (except when the Birken Office is closed during formal retreats or scheduled closure periods, when it may take longer).  If you are applying for a Scheduled Retreat, you should receive an official booking confirmation only after registration for that retreat has closed.  If you do not receive a booking confirmation within the time specified, please email us at meditate@birken.ca to make sure we received your form.

Guest Guidelines
The Birken Guest Guidelines can be found at http://birken.ca/guest_guidelines.
The Eight Precepts can be found in the Birken Guest Guide at http://birken.ca/guest_guidelines.
All guests must abide by the Eight Precepts during their stay at the monastery. In exceptional cases (e.g. if you have hypoglycemia or diabetes), you may request an exception from the Eight Precepts to have a light evening snack. These exceptions must be approved by the Abbot prior to your visit and will be acknowledged in your booking confirmation.
