Introductory Retreat
Regular instruction.
Shorter sitting periods.
Interviews Sunday noon only.
This is an introductory retreat – for people who may have a little meditation experience, maybe meditate on their own or with a group, or have attended day retreats, and who might have visited Sītavana for tea or for a short stay on their own, but who have never attended a residential retreat. Depending on the experience of the people in the group, instruction may start with absolute basics, or, if everyone has some meditation experience, at a level appropriate to the group. There is instruction on both sitting and walking meditation. The retreat provides short sitting meditation periods (20 to 40 minutes), alternating with walking meditation. The retreat is conducted in silence: no conversation between participants from Friday tea-time to Sunday noon. There is an opportunity for question & answers at tea time on Friday & Saturday, and an interview or chat with Ajahn Sona after the retreat ends on Sunday.
