Birken Forest Monastery’s $100,000 Garden Project

Last summer we broke ground, literally, on the largest landscaping project in Birken’s history. The work encompasses the addition of a flower garden in memory of Ajahn Sona’s father, Ralph West, a Japanese courtyard garden in front of Nimitta House, and a total re-imagining of the area in front of our Vihara into a Japanese stroll garden. In addition to these aesthetic refinements, we are also incorporating fire protection measures into our plans for the surrounding monastery property. Please see the photos above and below to get a sense of what it will take to bring these projects to a beautiful state of completion.

    Costs Still Remaining: $100,000

If you’d like to contribute towards the costs of this great monastery project, please see our Support page for the many ways you can give. Be sure to note “GARDEN PROJECT” on your donation, whether it is made through CanadaHelps, Interac e-transfer, by cheque or cash.

To all our donors, we wish to express our immense gratitude for your continuing support of Birken’s cultivation of the Dhamma in all of its exquisite forms. Anumodana! We rejoice in your tremendous generosity and great merit!
