Serenity, Friendliness & Warmth in Winter:
Virtual Metta (Loving-Kindness) Retreat with Ajahn Sona
December 22, 2020-January 1, 2021
DAILY VIRTUAL RETREAT ACTIVITIES (click on date links below):
As we step gently into winter and continue to find our footing amidst these uncertain times, join the community at Birken Forest Buddhist Monastery for our second web-based virtual meditation retreat, centering on the cultivation of Metta (Loving-Kindness). Over a period of 10 days from December 22-January 1, Ajahn Sona will lead meditators around the world towards a deeper understanding of the practice, development, and cultivation of Metta in all areas of life.
A retreat at Birken is like no other. Since we can’t invite you to join us here quite yet, we have attempted to bring the experience of a Birken 10-Day meditation retreat to you in your home, virtually. While the presentation has been tailored somewhat to the online environment, we have endeavored to convey the spirit of what it’s like to be at the monastery through the medium of Ajahn Sona’s YouTube Channel.
For those who have visited Birken and had the experience of attending one of our retreats, the images and sounds will be familiar to you, and hopefully support bringing the experience into your home. For those who have not visited us before, welcome. We hope the offerings here will give you a glimpse of the physical surroundings and environment that make Birken so special, and help you cultivate your own inner monastery.
This special meditation retreat will be broadcast on Ajahn Sona’s YouTube channel, featuring:
- Evening Dhamma talks
- Live teatime Q&A
- Group meditations
- Guided meditations
- Nature walks through Birken’s landscape
